The Laughing Khokmah Ensemble is an 18 track release by Sir Froderick. Best described as organized chaos, led by wonderfully dissected & distressed lo-fi samples, surrounded by self-made sounds. A wonderful follow-up to The Brief Wondrous release and associated visual art (sirfroderick.bandcamp.com/merch), this tape is a combination of both entities, which one may easily refer to as an "aural visual" project. By using an MPC to mesh both unorthodox, as well as traditional chops we're introduced to a more ambient, atmospheric, percussive side of Sir Froderick amid his familiar song structure dynamic.
003:Bike - Mono/Rot
Mono/Rot is a double EP (each side of the tape is an entire EP), by Brian Grainger (Aka. Milieu, Coppice Hallifax, and more) as Bike.
The Rot EP is a series of 6 tracks presenting a more rhythmic style for Brian. In general they feel like Aphex/Tuss doing a take on minimal dub techno, but with a certain Grainger uniqueness.
On the other side, (no a or b here) Mono EP is a single long track that takes the style of the individual tracks on Rot EP, and works it into one long master track. I have to say this work
is top notch, very unique and a great ammount of detail to listen to. Pro-dubbed cassette tapes. Limited to 50 copies.
Working out of Tennesee, Square People brings us
Cosmic Sans Vol. 2, a mega-hit compilation of some of his best work to date.
In 22 tracks, Square People covers an absurd number of styles in this collection while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic of his own.
His work draws from 70's jazz, 80's College Rock, and 90's R&B
and is produced in a DIY future-retro electronics manner, ultimately creating a sound destined for cassette tape.
Seriously a great tape. Check out the preview, c46, professionally dubbed, get them while they're hot.
Here is Constrobuz's We Will Die. A whopping c50 of beats, 13 tracks in all. Though this work is produced through contemporary techniques,
it evokes a timeless feel with a unique use of melody not often found in most beatwork. This album mixes elements of post-Dilla beats, melodic IDM,
and dubstep, forming novel compositions much less derivative than most in these genres. These works are not meant to be 12" club tracks,
instead We Will Die is an arrangement of restrained and thoughtful tracks meant to be listened to in its entirety. Pro-dubbed, pro-printed tapes. Check out the audio preview.
